59-year-old male patient was performed TURP(transurethral resection of the prostate) under the diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Under general anesthesia, TURP was performed for two hours. One hour and fifty minutes after beginning of the operation, serum sodium level showed 126mEq/L. During the operation, fluctuation in blood pressure, bradycardia and EKG change were not observed.
We treated the patient with furosemide 20§· and 0.9% normal saline mixed with NaCl 80mEq. The patient was recovered well from general anesthesia. During postoperative two days, serum sodium level showed 137mEq/L.
